Formerly known as the Montreal Expos boutique, this socially-oriented café is part of the Olympic Park’s revitalization project. The space was redone for park visitors and the surrounding community to enjoy, and the project itself was organized by a co-op.

The revamped space preserved the existing glass windows, and the new, modern counter and service stations were set up in the middle of the room. Benches and tables were installed around the perimeter. The indoor and outdoor spaces surrounding the café are also a part of the building itself: furniture is attached to the existing concrete exterior, inviting customers to take a seat next to the hall. On the esplanade, the terrace extends from the wall all the way to the existing concrete curb, catching passersby’s attention while creating a friendly outdoor environment.

A large illuminated cube – a truly distinctive decor element – expertly conceals an unsightly storage area. The structure is decorated with graphic elements tied to neighbourhood life and the activities that take place at the Olympic Park.

This carefully-designed project is a great example of revitalizing a space via the dynamic interaction that exists between visitors inside the building and people passing by outdoors.

Ce projet conçu avec soin est un bel exemple de revitalisation d’un lieu par la dynamique d’interactions qui règnent entre les visiteurs à l’intérieur du bâtiment et les passants à l’extérieur.
