Centre de création de Boisbriand
The project involved transforming the Notre-Dame-de-Fatima church into a cultural center for the City of Boisbriand, to house the Petit Théâtre du Nord team, among others. The goal was to offer residents a versatile and multipurpose space, providing four different room configurations. Thus, the creation and performance hall is equipped with technological and scenographic equipment that meets the needs of creators and artisans. The hall is mainly used for theatrical performances. The acoustics are therefore designed for the human voice.
The transformation of the Notre-Dame-de-Fatima church into a cultural center extended beyond the interior renovations, encompassing the creation of an inviting and accessible exterior space. The project aimed to enhance the building’s connection to its surroundings and foster a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.
A key aspect of the transformation was the development of a green space in front of the building. This landscaped area recreates the spirit of a welcoming parvis, providing a seamless transition between the street and the center’s entrance. The new public space serves as a pedestrian link and invites visitors to engage with the building and its surroundings.
The contemporary expansion of the church’s facade further contributes to its revitalized appearance. The addition of modern architectural elements complements the existing structure while establishing the building’s new identity as a cultural hub. The open facade creates a sense of transparency and connection, inviting the community to explore the center’s offerings.
The overall transformation of the Notre-Dame-de-Fatima church into a cultural center not only enhances the building’s functionality but also revitalizes its presence within the urban landscape. The careful consideration of both interior and exterior design has resulted in a space that is both welcoming and inspiring, fostering a vibrant cultural hub for the City of Boisbriand.
