Champboisé outdoor stage project: a cultural and community gathering place
In 2019, the Municipality of L’Ange-Gardien acquired the vast Champboisé site, a 165-acre property that offers immense potential for the creation of dynamic and attractive public spaces. Among the development projects under consideration, the municipality is exploring the idea of a new outdoor stage, which could enable Champboisé to become a popular tourist destination for the region. With this in mind, L’Ange-Gardien commissioned Cardin Julien to carry out a feasibility study and develop a preliminary concept for the development of this outdoor infrastructure.
A project combining functionality and landscape integration
The objective of this project is to develop an outdoor stage that is functional, aesthetically integrated into the natural landscape and capable of accommodating the various activities planned for the site. This facility will become a central element of Champboisé, offering a versatile infrastructure for acoustic performances, film screenings, community events and family gatherings. The municipality hopes that this stage will become a regional attraction, captivating not only the residents of L’Ange-Gardien, but also visitors from surrounding towns.
A sustainable and flexible architectural concept
The site selected for the stage offers a natural amphitheatre, with ideal acoustics for outdoor performances. This choice minimizes the environmental impact of construction while maximizing the integration of the stage into the landscape. The proposed concept is inspired by contemporary, sustainable architecture, with the use of natural materials such as wood. The stage will be topped by an accessible roof terrace, offering visitors a unique view of the Champboisé site and the Lièvre River. Movable elements will enable the stage space to be modulated as required, ensuring great flexibility for various types of event.
The feasibility study also takes into account landscaping, the technical infrastructure required for shows, and support facilities such as dressing rooms and access for artists and technicians.
